O'Neil She was still in high school times during the auditions, volunteered for Canadian Idol's 3rd season in the beginning of 2005. Judges loved her voice and she made it to the Top 100 Round. O'Neil received high praise from the judges. However, she was a major loser in the top 10 Week and Top 9 Week of the Finals. Judges were amazed by her performance, and recommended viewers to select singers who were well-known like Melissa. O'Neil's performance was so consistently good, that he never fell into the third place. O'Neil and Rex Goudie and Werner gave two stunning performances in September 2005. Werner reportedly said that headlines would say O'Neil was able to defeat Goudie and was the 3rd Canadian Idol. She was also the first female and the youngest winner in history of the show. O'Neil got a phone call from Canadian prime minister Paul Martin to congratulate her on winning Canadian Idol.
