Jennifer Garner was born on the 17th of April, 1972 from Houston, Texas but was raised in Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering company called Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a local college. In the hopes of following the footsteps of her father, she graduated with an education in chemical engineering. Then she moved to New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. In addition to appearing in Broadway plays, she also worked as a server at the nearby restaurant. She had a cameo role in the show "Felicity." (It it was on that show where she first met her husband Scott Foley.) Garner made her breakthrough with the action-thriller "Alias." Garner's first leading role was the widely praised romantic comedy "13 going on thirty." She played the role of a teenager caught stuck in the body of an older woman of 30. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film. They continued to look for other projects until Winick's passing away in the year 2011. Garner was appointed as an artist ambassador with Save the Children U.S.A. during 2009, had a key role in the organization. This role entails national literacy along with nutrition, early childhood education and different aspects. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a part of the trustees' board of the organization. She has been pushing for early elementary education. As a member of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) program's ambassador team, Garner visits families regularly to provide them with strategies to encourage their young children to succeed.
