My son played in the playpen as I worked 12-hour days, sanding the floor and removing wallpaper. Ha! It was all starting to form, but we weren't anywhere near finished. It would take an enormous amount of effort and shopping my favorite to furnish this home. To stay on budget I began going to estate sales with three sons to find diamonds in the rough. Our weekly routine that included spending the week of Thursday to Saturday scouring estate and garage sales, purchasing new and old objects. I then spent the remainder of the week sanding and painting the driveway. My first impression was similar to... that's the moment my love for restoring furniture began. I continued to work on furniture, even after having completed the renovation of our home. There was an area on the market, where I would sell items. There were numerous pieces that I did not think of a solution and I outgrew my space. There were open houses at my house where over 1 000 people came through on one weekend, and buy anything they saw on the ground floor. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. My business was not only thriving but I was growing my sweet family too. There was a perfect balance between starting a business as well as being a mom. Growing Days fit perfectly. The year was 2013, and my beautiful daughter Nora joined our 4th child. My business was booming but I wanted a rest. I decided to stop working on my antique furniture and stay home with the kids. The time was right. It was only after several months that the phones started to call. I was getting calls from people asking me for assistance with home improvements as well as interior design. Most of these people were people who had been through my property during open house for furniture! The time flew by before I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. The first step was to take clients on one at a pace that I felt at ease with. Most likely, I'd have laughed had I had been told that the business was going to be part of a forthcoming TV show that airs on the DIY Network. Indeed, I am laughing at times when I think of it.
